Lumbar Spine Stenosis with Surgical Decompression and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit begins with one sagittal (side cut-away view of the lumbar spine illustrating the pre-operative condition. This image clearly reveals mild to moderate disc bulges at L2-3, L3-4 and L4-5, and a grade 1 spondylolisthesis at L5-S1 with resulting spinal stenosis of the lower spinal canal. Also, four steps of the L4-5 and L5-S1 posterior decompression and fusion procedure are illustrated. These images include an incision made into the lower back, a decompression laminectomy, bilateral foraminotomies and facetectomies and the insertion of fusion rods, screws and bone graft material. Finally, a post-operative x-ray film print is included demonstrating the location of the spinal fusion hardware.
