Post-accident Facial Fractures with Surgical Reconstruction - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit shows post-accident facial fractures with surgical reconstruction in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows the post-accident condition in an anterior view of the skull, including displaced left nasal bone fractures with a deviated septum and a displaced, complex tripod fracture involving the left fronto-zygomatic region, orbital floor and maxillary sinus. The second illustration depicts a cut-away view of the skull, showing the collapse of the orbital contents into the left maxillary sinus. The third illustration shows the first step in the procedure, in which incisions are created through the left buccal region and below the left eye for fixation of the fractures. The fourth illustration shows placement of a fixation plate and screws to secure the infra-orbital maxillary sinus fractures. The fifth illustration shows placement of bone graft from the fractured maxillary wall into the orbital floor for support. The sixth illustration shows the post-operative condition, including the fixation hardware and bone graft in place. The seventh illustration is a 3-dimensional film depicting the post-operative skull fixation.
