This medical exhibit demonstrates the surgical removal of an impacted molar with subsequent nerve damage. The exhibit contains two images of the skull from a right lateral view. Attention is called to the impacted right molar and its relationship to the lingual and inferior alveolar nerves. The impacted right molar (tooth #32) is shown inflamed. The image at right details the post-operative condition with the molar now removed and the lingual nerve severed.
