Progression of Spinal Ischemia - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit features four cut-away views of the mid-thoracic region of the spine.1. Pre-operaive condition with angulation deformity of the vertebra but full and healthy spinal arteries. 2. Initial post-operative condition with realignment of the angulation and a stretching of the posterior spinal artery leading to a blockage of bloodflow through this vessel. 3. Subsequent condition with a slight ischemia of the spinal cord in the region supplied by the occluded spinal artery. 4. Eventual condition with increased ischemia and infarction of the cord.
