Correct vs. Incorrect Iridotomies - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit features two sets of images comparing normal anatomy with the post-operative condition. These two sets of images compare the correct placement of the iridotomies at the 10:30 and 1:30 positions with the incorrect placement of the iridotomies in this case at 11:30 and 12:30.
Correct Iridotomy. The anterior view shows that the placement of the iridotomies at 10:30 and 1:30 place the holes beyond the peripheral edge of the intraocular lens. Therefore the iridotomies are not obstructed. The sagittal view shows how these holes placed in the iris allow flow of aqueous into the anterior chamber.
Incorrect Iridotomy. The anterior view shows that the placement of the iridotomies at 11:30 and 12:30 do NOT place the holes beyond the peripheral edge of the lens. Therefore the iridotomy holes are obstructed by the lens. The sagittal view reinforces this issue by showing that the iridotomy holes are obstructed and flow is NOT re-established.
