Lumbar Disc Injuries with Posterior Surgical Repairs - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit depicts lumbar disc injuries with posterior surgical repairs. It begins with one sagittal view of the lumbar spine with disc desiccation at the L4-5 and L5-S1, as well as a right sided disc protrusion at L4-5 causing irritation of the exiting nerve root at this level. Also, the key steps of the surgical repair procedure are shown. These images include the exposure of the lower lumbar spine through an open surgical incision, the hemilaminectomies and discectomies at the L4-5 and L5-S1 levels, as well as the fusion of the lower lumbar spine from L4 down to S1.
