Surgical Repair of Traumatic Toe Amputation - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit begins with a dramatic overview of the post-accident condition of the right foot, clearly demonstrating the near amputation of the 5th toe and avulsed nail plate of the 4th toe. An x-ray film print of the fracture of the distal phalanx is included. Next beside this image is a skeletal view of the foot (based on the film) with transparent skin to depict the graphic open lacerations and avulsion of the nail plate of the 4th toe. Next multiple steps of the surgical procedure are included based on Ms. Urschel's actual operative report including: a pituitary rongeur and curet is used to debride out the open fracture and remove the hematoma from the area where her toe was crushed, the site is then irrigated with copious amounts of sterile solution through a bulb syringe, the tissues is then sutured together, the removal of the near totally avulsed 4th toe nail and a suture placed in the ungual fold.rnrn
