Full Thickness Rotator Cuff Tear with Surgical Repairs - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit begins with an anterior view of the right shoulder. The skin is transparent revealing the underlying skeletal and muscular anatomy which shows a large retracted tear of the rotator cuff. Next, the following steps of the open rotator cuff repair procedure is included: a strap type incision is made into the right shoulder, an acromioplasty is performed using an osteotome and smoothing the undersurface of the acromion with a rongeur, the upper edge of the greater tuberosity is smoothed and a shallow trough for the rotator cuff repair is created and finally, three suture anchors are then placed in the humeral head within the trough completing the repair.
