L4-5 Spine Injury with Surgical Decompression and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit begins with a sagittal view of the lumbar spine illustrating the pre-operative condition. This image will be based specifically on the pre-operative MRI and clearly shows the degenerated disc at L4-5 with spinal stenosis. Next, multiple steps of the operative repair are illustrated, including the lower back incision, removal of bone (inferior L4/superior L5 lamina, spinous processes, L4-5 facet joints), L4-5 discectomy, insertion of spacer packed with bone graft, and placement of pedicle screws and rods. A post-operative x-ray shows the posterior hardware in place will also be included.
