Left Calcaneal Fracture with Surgical Procedure - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This is a single board exhibit depicting the post-accident and post-operative condition of a patient with a tongue-type comminuted calcaneal fracture, as well as four steps of the fixation surgery.\r\n\r\nThe first image is a color interpretation of the post-accident condition of the patient’s left foot with emphasis of the full calcaneal fracture extending throughout the bone and to the joint.\r\n\r\nThe next four images are steps from the surgery. The first image illustrates the lateral incision made and the pinning back of tissues to expose the fracture. The second image is of two pins being inserted to reduce the main tongue fracture. The third depicts the additional fractures being reduced by inserting two K-wires. And the last step illustrated shows the insertion and placement of the multiple screws to secure the reduced fractures in place.\r\n\r\nThe post-operative condition image is a color film interpretation with all the screws in place and the fractures reduced.
